On Monday, the Nepali Army conducted a state-level disaster preparedness exercise to control flooding in the Terai Madhesh during the rainy season and fire during the dry season.

The Nepali Army conducted disaster preparedness exercises in the Bagmati river that flows between Sarlahi's Bagmati municipality and Rautahat's Chandrapur municipality. As there will be more rain this year, a sample exercise has been conducted as a precautionary measure to control the risk of fire and the evacuation of citizens in the potentially flooded areas, informed Krishna Bahadur GC, the former president of the Middle Eastern District of Bardiwas. As part of the preparatory exercise, the rescue of citizens in floods caused by excessive flooding in the river during the rainy season and fire control measures in houses and settlements during the dry season were practiced.

Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh while speaking at the disaster preparedness exercise emphasized that the army should set up camps in flood-affected areas to rescue civilians. "This year, the meteorologist has predicted that there will be a large amount of rain, which is likely to cause loss of people's wealth, everyone should try to reduce it," he said, "During the rainy season, the army should set up camps in the affected areas and only the citizens can be rescued at the right time." He said that due to the lack of resources, there is a problem in emergency rescue.

The Nepali Army, Red Cross and fire fighters participated in the disaster preparedness exercise. There was an exhibition about rescue and fire control measures along with the equipment used in it.
