Due to the high demand for chemical fertilizers, the warehouses of the two government institutions, Agricultural Materials Company and Salt Trading Corporation, which deal in fertilizers, have been running out of stock before they are filled.
There is currently 1,338 tons of urea fertilizer in the warehouse of Salt Trading Corporation Limited Madhesh Regional Office located in Birganj. Since SALT has imported 30 thousand tons of urea fertilizer from the global tender in the past one month, the provincial office Birgunj received 11 thousand 843 tons of urea fertilizer. Of the urea fertilizer received by the
office, 6 thousand 428 tons of fertilizer have been mobilized to the district offices under the fertilizer and 2 thousand 893 tons from Birgunj office to Parsa district.
Sanjay Prasad Gupta, information officer of the office, informed that only 1,338 tons of urea fertilizer is available in the office godown after saving 10 percent for fertilizer buffer stock.
He said that due to the high demand for urea fertilizer from the subordinate districts, fertilizer will be mobilized immediately in the districts that have received the quota.
"We have to mobilize the fertilizer as soon as the demand comes from the quota districts," he said.
Gupta says that the fertilizer that Salt is going to import from the global tender has not yet reached the Indian port. On the other hand, agricultural materials company Madhesh Provincial Office Birgunj currently has 11,200 tons of DAP fertilizer in stock. There is no demand for this fertilizer now. While there is a demand for urea fertilizer, the office has only 138 tons of urea fertilizer in stock. According to Durga Prasad Pandey, head of
office, the urea fertilizer that the company is going to import from the global tender has started coming in since last week.
Sun International Company is the supplier under this consignment, 3 racks of Urea Mall have arrived at Birganj border. But the fertilizer has not entered the warehouse of the office.
There is a possibility that the fertilizer brought from Saudi Arabia will be operational as soon as it enters. Pandey said that due to the continuous demand for urea fertilizer from Bagmati province, the urea fertilizer that is available in the office has been sent to that place so that it can be cut from the urea fertilizer that has not been imported.
He said that there is a demand for urea fertilizer in hilly districts, especially for corn crops, so there is a plan to immediately deploy urea fertilizer in the districts that are in demand.
