Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Sirha, has objected to the statement of Naveen Kumar Yadav, head of Sirha Municipality. The federation has condemned the statement given by city chief Yadav on Tuesday saying that journalists who write against him will face dire consequences.
Manoj Banaita Yadav, president of the Federation of Siraha, issued a statement on Tuesday evening and mentioned that the threatening expression of the city chief Yadav is grossly objectionable. It is mentioned in the statement that it is the professional responsibility of the media to report the news and trying to stop it is a serious violation of the freedom of the press.
Mayor Yadav's statement insulted democratic values and the federation said that this type of repression on press freedom will not be accepted under any circumstances. Similarly, the federation has also demanded the relevant agencies to bring the city chief Yadav under the scope of legal action.
A team from the office of the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission in Bardibas came to the municipality on Monday and seized the documents related to the plan. However, Yadav, the mayor of the municipality, had warned the journalists that the authority had come to the municipality as an unbridled propaganda.
