Most of the gold and silver businessmen of Rajviraj closed their shops on Wednesday after the news of the arrival of the monitoring team.
A team including Commercial Supply and Consumer Protection Office Birganj, Quality and Weights and Measures Office Biratnagar came to Rajviraj to monitor the jewellers.
The businessmen who got the information about the monitoring had already closed the jewelers and ran away. The team is monitoring some jewelers that are open.
Narayan Ranjan, president of the Rajviraj gold and silver business association, said he was out. "I will respond to the issue of jewelers being closed," he said, "but I have already asked to open my jewelers."
