20,000 tons of urea fertilizer of Salt Trading Corporation has been brought in through the Birgunj channel in a period of three weeks. According to Sanjay Gupta, information officer of Salt Trading Corporation Limited, Madhesh Regional Office, Birgunj, 20 thousand tons of urea fertilizer has arrived in 8 railway racks through Birganj Integrated Security Checkpoint and Sirsia Dry Port.

Since SALT is going to import 30 thousand tons of urea fertilizer from the global tender, the same consignment of fertilizer is continuously coming in. Aditya Birla Company is the supplier of this consignment. He is bringing this fertilizer from Turkmenistan. This cargo is being transported by train through Kolkata port in India and brought to Birgunj port.  

Out of 30,000 tons, Birgunj Regional Office will get about 12,774 tons of fertilizer. Bhairahawa and Biratnagar regional offices will get the rest of the fertilizer. He said that till now 9 thousand 977.40 tons of urea fertilizer has entered the warehouse of Birganj Regional Office. 

Along with being stored in Birganj godown, urea fertilizer is also being mobilized in the districts where there is demand, he said.

Madhesh Regional Office has been mobilizing fertilizers in 16 districts of Madhesh Province, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces. Fertilizers introduced recently are useful for chaite paddy crops in the plains and hill districts  said Lamichhane.
