Phanidev Mahat, a journalist living in Chandrapur-4 who has been active in journalism for two decades, died of brain tumor on Tuesday night.
Journalist Mahat underwent tumor surgery at Annapurna Neuro Hospital in the capital last year. After that, he was also being treated in New Delhi, India.

Mahat, a 48-year-old with a temperamental nature, was operated on in Kathmandu last year after he fainted due to a sudden headache. After that, he was taken to Delhi, India and was stabbed in the wound with cyberknife technology.
For the last one month, he was undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital and Annapurna Neuro. After his death, his body was brought from Kathmandu to his home district Rautahat in the morning.
Nirmala Sharma, President of the Central Committee of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, said that the entire federation was shocked by the death of journalist Mahat. His last rites will be performed today.
