The people living in Matihani's Jaralhawa gachi cannot sleep well at night by making mud huts. In the Muslim settlement of Jaralhawa Gachi, located in Matihani municipality-6, ordinary people cannot sleep without any worries at night. Residents could not sleep at night due to the fear of fire in the thatched house. Locals who have been suffering from fire damage every year take turns to monitor the settlement.

Basiro Khatun said that in the Muslim settlement of Jaralhawa Gachi, the settlement was burnt down early on 12th Baisakh, now it is mandatory to put water in a bucket in the house, extinguish the fire after cooking and the elderly and women stay awake to prevent the settlement from catching fire. "I couldn't sleep all night because of the fear of fire," she said, "We keep water in buckets day and night." We don't keep the dishes empty, we keep them filled with water . I don't know when the fire will start . In the slums, the houses that are not occupied are the ones where the fire starts.' She said that there is a fire every year in the houses of 17 poor Muslim families in Jaralhawa Gachi.

Ajmeri Khatun, who is raising two children, is living under a tarpaulin as she is unable to handle the fire after being damaged by fire many times. She is afraid that she will not be able to take care of the children due to the fire. She has not built a house because of fear. "In poor Muslim settlements, the rich people of the village have seized the land of Guthi under the guise of political access." Even if they build thatched roofs on the occupied land, they do not live there,' she said. 

A sad Khatun said that the houses built to occupy the land are causing fire in the slums. "Those who built concrete houses in the village settlements have built mud houses in the poor settlements for the purpose of occupying the land," she said. She says that she had to stay awake at night due to the fear of fire.
