Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city has been declared fully vaccinated. The sub-metropolis made the announcement on Monday in a program attended by public representatives and health workers from all 27 wards.
But while Kalaiya was making this announcement, 4 percent of children across the country are completely out of reach (in zero state) and 16 percent are partially out of reach, said Ajay Jaiswal, head of the health division.
The government has said that children between the ages of 16 and 23 months should be vaccinated. But the government has set a goal that no child should be deprived of vaccination, even if they are up to 5 years old.
According to Jaiswal, it has been found that only 80 percent of children in the country have access to vaccines. "One hundred percent of the poor, poor, very poor and Dalit communities (poor class) have access to vaccination," he said.
He said that by the coming year 2027, the government's goal is to reach 100 percent access to vaccination in all communities and classes. At the time of the 2011 survey, 13 percent of children were unvaccinated. He said that the announcement was made as per the "time line" given by the federal government to announce the mandatory vaccination guarantee by May of the current year according to the health program operation standards at the local level.
Children up to 15 months of age cannot be deprived of vaccination by carrying out mandatory regular vaccinations, he said that the program has been completed and announced. During the survey in February, out of 1,800 children up to 23 months across the municipality, 211 were found to have partial access to vaccines and 1 percent had zero access, so complete vaccination coverage was declared after completing it, he said.
