Police have arrested a person from Birganj on the charge of being involved in human trafficking.
The arrested person is 29-year-old Sujan Lama alias Pasang Tamang of Sindhupalchok Chautara Sangachokgadi Napa-1. The police arrested him from the Nepal-India border at Birganj at 7 pm on Wednesday.
Birganj-16 Shankaracharya Gate road section, the police checking team deployed from the police station Enrwa stopped a man and a woman who were going from Nepal to India and questioned them in the presence of their relatives and Nepalese employees. They were brought to the district police office.
According to the preliminary investigation, the police said that Tamang was taking the girl to India with the intention of selling her by luring her to work in a garment factory near Birganj with good income.
Tamang has been taken into custody for further investigation Parsa Police Spokesman DSP Subas Bhatt informed that Parsa District Court has taken a seven-day deadline for further investigation for the offense under Human Trafficking and Trafficking (Control) Act 2064.
