The Planning Office of the Directorate of Postal Highways, Janakpur, said that after the Kamala Bridge construction company, which has been under construction for 13 years to connect Sirha and Dhanusha under the Hulaki Road, has stopped the work, the contract agreement has been terminated.

Planning director Krishna Kumar Mahato said that the construction company "Lumbini Builders" was summoned for the reconstruction of the bridge by the end of June.

According to the agreement, the work should be completed by the end of June. However, the construction company has stopped the work since a month ago. We have not even applied for an extension of time', he said, 'We have recommended action to the center after the work is not done as per the agreement.' During the construction of the bridge, the construction company claimed the insurance amount after two of the bridges collapsed. As the matter is currently under consideration in the court, Chief Mahato said that the directorate is conducting legal consultations regarding the construction contract and the action process.

Sudeep Thapa, site in-charge of the construction company Lumbini Builders, says that when the bridge was damaged by a flood when it was in the final stages of construction, the company did not get the amount of 80 million due from the insurance, and they had to go to court. He informed that the rest of the construction of the bridge had to be stopped due to lack of funds.

In 2068, there was an agreement that the bridge would be built within three years. However, even after 13 years of extension, the construction of the bridge is still incomplete. "Pappu Construction" had stalled the bridge that was supposed to be built in three years, after Pappu was blacklisted, the rest of the work was being done by "Lumbini Builders". In the meantime, the extended deadline of 082 June for the last time has also passed.

Indrajit Yawad, Ward President of Sirha Municipality-6, said that although the locals have been constructing a bridge for commuting in Kamala for years, the same bridge is washed away during the rainy season. According to him, the people of Sirha and Saptari have to go to the state capital, Janakpur, to go to the Indian market Jayanagar or to pay Rs 100 for a risky boat trip. Similarly, half an hour's journey will have to be made through Mirchaiya, Dhalkevar, and a round trip of about three hours will be required.

Hulaki Road, which is seen as the 'life line' of Terai Madhes, is a short-distance project of national pride connecting Madhes with Janakpurdham, the capital of Madhes. While the preparations for the inauguration have been completed and the reconstruction of the bridge that was swept away by the floods in the Kamala river has not only been delayed, it has become uncertain whether the bridge will be built or not.
