The Madhesh Girl Conference has started from Wednesday in Janakpur with the participation of about 60 girls from 8 districts of Madhesh. The conference, which will last for two days under the slogan 'Efficient Girls, Prosperous Madhesh', will decide the course of action to eradicate child marriage, forced marriage, dowry and discrimination faced by the girls of Madhesh.

Sports and Social Welfare Minister of Madhesh Province Pramod Jaiswal said that the provincial government is not keeping silent for the protection of girls. "If Madhesh is lagging behind in every aspect, there are serious accusations," Minister Jaiswal said while opening the conference, "Dowry, child marriage has caused us more problems." Due to the problems in the society, a negative attitude towards Madhesh has been formed. That should be changed.'

He said that for the rights and interests of the girl child, the state government has introduced the Girl Child Protection Act and is going to implement the Beti Zindavad program based on it. "Runaway marriages have also become a matter of concern," Minister Jaiswal said, "Since marriage is linked to social prestige, the growing trend of running away and getting married at a young age has also led Madhesh to another problem."

Rupa Yadav, Member of Provincial Parliament and Chairperson of Children's Committee, said that there is no justification for the debate of lowering the age of marriage to 18 years. "It is not good to specify 18 years for marriage," she said, "the comment that a daughter is born only for marriage should be removed." A daughter can also become a doctor, engineer, president and leader. Manoj Sah, head of Janakpur sub-metropolis, said that arranged marriage is a sad aspect for Madhesh. "In Madhesh, child marriage, dowry and discrimination used to exist, now runaway marriages have also been added," he said. Which is sad.'

Dhanush's daughter Pratima Yadav said that girls from Madhesh are under pressure to get married from a young age. She said that marriage should not be done before the age of 20. Balika Yadav said, "We should put this pressure on the family." We are worried and saddened by the pressure to get married at a young age.'

Children of Dhanusha performed the play 'Ijjot' against child marriage, forced marriage, dowry and discrimination at the girls' conference organized by the state-level network against child marriage in coordination with the Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare.
