The High Court has stopped the implementation of the circular issued by the Siraha municipality to implement the textbook by specifying the publication. The High Court, Rajviraj Bench, on Sunday issued an interim order not to implement it.

In the interim order given by the joint bench of Justices Sarla Kumari Pandey and Madhav Dhital, it is mentioned that the Sirha municipality's decision on March 18, 2081 to make compulsory use of the specified publication book and notice issued on March 20 should not be implemented until the final decision is taken.

Municipality had been issuing directives to use only Nepali, English, Compulsory Mathematics, Science and Technology and Social Studies books Taxila, Janak Shiksha Material Kendra, Times, Vedanta, Vidyarthi and Ridmore Publications. The municipality had also warned of action against schools that did not comply with it.

Whereas Rule 6 (a) of the Education Regulations, 2059 has a provision that textbooks from any publication approved by the Government of Nepal can be used. After this circular of the municipality, Bharat Kumar Yadav on behalf of Pabson Sirha went to the High Court with a writ petition demanding an injunction against it.
