Division Forest Office Rautahat has started planting trees to prevent encroachment in Chadikhola river Ukas forest area. Planting of various species has started in Ukas area located in Chandrapur Municipality-3, Gaidatar.

The forest has put up surveillance and fences in the planted areas. After some people tried to encroach on the forest area in that area, the forest took this step to control it.

Gaidatar sub division forest chief ranger Lakshmi Karna informed that after the encroachers started cutting small trees and encircling them to make the forest infamous, they started planting trees from Sunday.

"We have planted saplings to prevent further encroachment on the west side of the settlement, which has already been encroached on the Chadi River Ukas area," she said. Now let's protect it and prevent further encroachment.

The forest office has said that attempts are being made to encroach on the government school in the east, Bhorleni community forest, Kachdia exit in the west, Tileswarnath community forest, Awadi in the north and river rise in the south.

The locals of that area had encroached on the forest area by encroaching on the forest area and started trying to build a farm. Divisional Forest Chief Hemant Sah informed that the poles and wire fences installed by the locals have been removed. In collaboration with Tileswarnath Community Forest User Group, the forest has started planting trees in the presence of a large number of security personnel.

"We have started a search for those involved in cutting trees and causing damage to plants in the forest area," Forest Chief Shah said, "If found, we will take strict action according to the Forest Act 2076." Those who cause damage to forests in the name of encroachment will not be spared.' The forest has been 'successful' in removing the encroachment. It is the understanding of the forest that the practice of unannounced support of encroachers by political parties is causing problems in protecting forests. The total area of the district is 29 thousand 436.330 hectares of national forest.

Lately, 3 thousand 190.520 hectares of forest has been encroached. Forest chief Sah said that 17 hectares of corn planted in the national forest in Gaindatar, Paurai, Vrindavan and Dhansar areas were removed and the forest area was established.
