The houses constructed two years ago by the Madhes state government under the 'Janata Awas' program for the low-income Dom community in Bariyarpatti-3 Tilaiya Musahar toll of Siraha have not been used.
Two years ago, the government built a three-storey concrete house for 15 Dom families who were displaced by Hulaki road, but seven families did not use the house. There are 18 Dom community families here. Out of which, 15 families with red parts were built under the Janata Awas program, according to Rabindra Yadav, technician of the program.
'The house could not be built due to the lack of Lalpurja of the three families,' he said, 'The problem has arisen because they refused to go on the public land provided by the municipality. The built houses have been handed over to the concerned people two years ago.'
According to him, the Janata Awas Program provided a grant of 332,000 to build a house. When this program was conducted, some Dom families had to find land and build houses. Those who did not have land in their name purchased land from someone else and built a house.
Kaila Marik is one of them. Marik says that he is unable to live because there are no roads, electricity or drinking water facilities. He said, 'Because the government has neglected other facilities, he had to live in this bush instead of living in that house.' He said that if the government arranges the road to the house, electricity and drinking water, they will move into the house immediately.
Ward says that despite asking them to move to that house several times, they refused. Vinod Kumar Yadav, Ward President of Ward No. 3, complained that Dome Parivar refused to leave the market and go around. He said, 'If it is confirmed that they will live in that house, the ward will immediately arrange roads, electricity and drinking water. But they must go. If we invest and they don't go, the ward's investment will be like water on sand.'
According to Ward head Yadav, the Dom community here does not want to leave the place as they make woven materials from bamboo and sell them in the market. are doing He said that when the Hulaki road expansion work is re-scheduled, the Dom community will have to leave the house they are currently living in, and then the houses can be used.
