17 lakh 75 thousand rupees have been received for the expansion of the CC camera network to strengthen public safety under the 'Safe Birganj' campaign being conducted by the Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality. 16 commercial banks within the metropolis jointly supported.
On Monday, the assistance provided by the banks has been handed over to the head of the metropolis. Co-ordinator of 'Safer Birganj' Manoj Das and Superintendent of Police of Parsa Gautam Mishra were handed over by Rohini Acharya, President of Bankers Association Parsa and Head of Lakshmi Bank Birganj branch on behalf of the banks.
Mayor Rajeshman Singh said that the contribution of banks in this initiative aimed at making Birgunj a safe and orderly city through the use of security technology is inspiring. He said that more new cameras will be installed in different places of Birgunj from the funds collected through the initiative of the Metropolitan Municipality and the collaboration of Safer Birgunj and the District Police Office.
Superintendent of Police Mishra praised the campaign saying that CC cameras play an important role in urban security. The largest contribution to the campaign was made by Nabil Bank of Rs 3 lakh.
