Parsaka municipality chief agreed to conduct student enrollment campaign

All the 14 municipal heads of Parsa have agreed not to affect the student enrollment campaign due to the teachers' movement centered in Kathmandu.

Due to the teacher's agitation, the campaign has been affected due to the fact that the student enrollment campaign should be conducted in public schools from May 2. The local levels have agreed to conduct a student recruitment drive throughout the district from Monday to May 15th.

The meeting of the heads of the municipality held on Sunday in the office of the mayor Rajeshman Singh of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality has decided to direct the schools of their respective municipalities to conduct an immediate admission campaign .

Mayor Singh of Birgunj said that since the constitution has given the authority up to the basic and secondary level to the local level, for its effective implementation, the student enrollment campaign program has been conducted in such a way that all the municipal heads are united. He said that the school is declared as a peace zone and implemented to ensure the right of students to learn even in the case of any kind of emergency and crisis. He was also of the opinion that it was not justified for the main implementer of the

school to be declared a peace zone and start a protest by closing the school. He requested to modify the program of the movement and create an environment in which the school would operate and cautioned to prevent the situation of community schools without students.  In the

meeting, Hari Raut, head of district education coordination unit, said that since 60 percent of the teachers are at home, they have to be responsible and run the school themselves. Participating in the

meeting, Gokarna Pathak, head of Parsagadhi Nagar, expressed the view that it is not appropriate to sit and watch the students being deprived of education due to the school being locked and that it is necessary to start the enrollment campaign immediately.

He said that even though the teachers have the right to make their demands, it is not justified to stop teaching and pointed out that it is necessary to make the movement creative. Shrikant Yadav, chairman of Jagarnathpur rural municipality, said that except for some unconstitutional demands made by the teachers, they will support the movement.

Lal Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of Thori Rural Municipality, said that even if the students are deprived of education due to the teacher's agitation, it is necessary to find a way to manage the school now because the problems will come to them. The

meeting was attended by Pradyuman Chauhan, Chief of Pokhariyya Municipality, Simhansah Sah Teli, Chief of Bahudarmai Municipality, Manoj Kumar, Chairman of Chhipharmai Rural Municipality, Jyoti Devi Chaurasia, Vice Chairman of Vindwasini Rural Municipality and others.
