Armed Police Awareness Campaign on Fire Prevention

The Armed Police has started an awareness campaign in the slums that are at risk of violence. The armed police has started a public awareness campaign in Mahottari to reduce the damage caused by annual fires in the poor, disadvantaged and Dalit settlements along the Nepal-India border.

Along with measures to prevent fires, people have been taught how to control and extinguish fires immediately. The armed police have taught the common people of the Muslim settlement of Jaralhawa Gachi located in Matihani Municipality-6, where fire incidents occur every year, how to prevent fire and how to control it after the house fire is extinguished.

On the occasion of the 18th Foundation Day, Armed Police Force Nepal No. 9 Gana Hekwa Mahottari's team started the campaign as part of public awareness program on fire control.  On 12th Baisakh 081, the armed police ordered people to keep buckets of water in houses, to put out the fire after cooking, to remove the electric wire above the house, and to sprinkle water before going to bed to extinguish the fire for animals and cattle.

Armed Police Superintendent of Police Puran Chandra Bhatt said that the Armed Police, who have received disaster management training, are conducting public awareness programs weekly in border areas where there is a risk of fire and loss of food.
