Saptari District Court, Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee under the Bar Association has taken interest in the case of a Dalit girl from Surunga Municipality-7 Haripur Ramtol of Saptari who was found dead in suspicious circumstances on Tuesday.
On Saturday, the committee's coordinator, advocate Dilip Choudhary, along with officials, took information from the victim's family. Coordinator Choudhary said that he will take initiative to conduct a fair investigation of the incident and bring justice to the victim's family.
'After understanding everything on the spot, we will prepare a report and draw the attention of stakeholders including the Chief District Officer through that report,' he said, 'It is our initiative to bring justice to the victim's family, we have come here to work accordingly.'
Pooja Kumari Ram, the 18-year-old daughter of Nagendra Ram, who was sleeping at home with her brother Vishwajit, disappeared from home on Monday night. While searching, she was found dead in a suspicious condition at a place called Tingachiyan, one kilometer south-east from the house. After the incident, her mother Ramwati filed a death-related complaint at the local police office in Kadarbona on Wednesday saying that her daughter was killed.
Saptari Superintendent of Police Dakhendra Khatiwada said that the incident is being investigated meticulously. "Even though the post-mortem of the dead body has been done at Dharan-based VP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, the report has not been received as the viscera has been sent for examination," he said. Superintendent of Police Khatiwada said that the young man of Thakur surname, who was found guilty by the Saptari District Court and absconding, is also being detained and investigated.
