According to him, although the deadline has been extended twice, only 40 percent of the work has been physically completed so far. For the last 6 months, the construction work has been completely stopped.
We are preparing to cancel the contract. The construction company is out of touch, no representative can be found on the site,' he said, 'We have asked for the final explanation, then we will come to a decision.'
According to him, despite repeated correspondence, the work has not started, no contact has been made and no reply has been received to the letter sent.
office had sent a letter on March 29 regarding why not to break the contract. Engineer J said that he was asked to contact the office with a written reply within three days, but no reply has been received so far.
After the site engineer's report, the office sent a letter to resume work on February 20. The report stated that the construction work at the site has been stopped for six months and there is no authorized representative of the construction company.
Before that, the office published a notice in the national newspaper and asked them to come in contact and start work. Engineer J said that the work was not started even though they were verbally contacted at that time.
'They haven't been in touch since March 2018,' he said, 'We sent a letter to the manager to attend the meeting, but they didn't come.' The condition was that the construction of the bridge should be completed by June 30, 2078. The contract has been signed for 148 million 223 rupees including VAT. But at the time of completion of the construction, only foundation work has been done.
The deadline was extended twice due to the Corona pandemic and the 13th amendment. After extending the deadline, the work should have been completed by 30 June 080. But only 40 percent material progress has been made so far. Engineer J informed that the contractor company has received about 23 percent payment in the meantime.
'About 23 percent has been paid,' he said, 'We are trying to get that amount back.'
He told that despite repeated correspondence, they were ignored and the road was blocked and the demonstration was completed.
He alleges that all agencies are ignoring the pain of the locals.
District Traffic Police Office Chief (Inspector) Hari Bahadur Oli informed that there were 45 accidents in the area during two years.
According to him, 34 people were injured and 11 people died in that accident.
This area is prone to accidents. Most of the accidents happen due to high speed," he said. "When there are potholes on the road near the bridge construction, accidents are more common."
