The family of 24-year-old Anandi Saday of Donwari tol located in Navrajpur Rural Municipality-3 of Siraha, who was found dead in her home after four months of wandering in the sexual abuse case, is not ready to go through the legal process. The victim's family felt insecure and could not prepare to file a complaint against the perpetrators of the incident and the relatives of the perpetrators who tried to settle the incident in the village and the police.
On Thursday, there was a discussion among the victims, Dalit leaders and legal practitioners about filing a complaint against 22-year-old Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, 32-year-old Shyamsunder Yadav, who is accused of sexual abuse, Sanjeev's father Upendra Yadav, Shyamsunder's father Shivdutt Yadav, local Narendra Yadav and chief police inspector of Maheshpur Patar, Ravinraj Mainali and the police of the area.
However, the victims were found to be very scared and they did not seem positive to proceed with the legal action process, said Sunil Sada, spokesperson of the Nepal National Musahar Association. "This incident is no longer limited to sexual abuse, instead of taking action, efforts have been made to settle the incident, which seems to have forced the victim to commit suicide," he said. "If there is a proper investigation into this incident, from senior police officers to district leaders and some locals will also be taken into action," he said, "Therefore, efforts are being made to put mental stress on the victims in various ways, and efforts are being made to stop it." "This incident has affected the justice system of the state, everyone should be active at such a time," he said. Before that, there was an attempt to gang rape her in the mango orchard of the village on 9th of January. However, on the same day, a complaint was lodged at the local police office, Maheshpur Patar, but the accused party and the police forced the victim to meet in the village.
When the police did not hear the victim's family prepared to go to the media, their complaint was registered on February 25 after one and a half months. However, even though the case was registered, the police was reluctant to arrest the accused. They have not been arrested yet. Anandi, who was in a state of tension after not getting justice, was found dead after wandering for four months.
