The work of 'Pilot Channel' which is going to be built by the Indian side to push the natural flow of Koshi river towards the western embankment has been stopped. After the news was published in Kantipur, a team led by the Chief District Officer (CDA) reached the 'Pilot Channel' construction site on Wednesday and stopped the work.
"We reached the pilot channel construction site after the complaints started coming in and told them not to proceed with the work," said Prazia Bhola Dahal, "We will hold discussions with technicians from both sides (India-Nepal) and proceed only after reaching a conclusion."
Banarjhula, Dalba, Rampura and other half a dozen settlements are at high risk of flooding. Along with Prazia Dahal, Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality Chairman Arun Kumar Mandal, Nepal Police Superintendent of Police Dhakendra Khatiwada, Armed Police Superintendent of Police Gyanmani Paudel, National Investigation Office Deputy Director Surendra Koirala and others were in the
