The police have put pressure on the family of 24-year-old Anandi Devi Saday of Siraha's Navrajpur rural municipality-3 Donwari toll, who was found dead after the sexual abuse incident, without justice.
Anandi was found dead hanging in her house at 3 pm on Tuesday. The police have sent the body to the provincial hospital in Lahan for examination. However, the victim's family has not identified the body. The victims' families and leaders of Dalits demand investigation and action against the police who hesitated to bring the culprits and culprits of the
incident to legal action.
After refusing to identify the dead body, Siraha Police Chief Superintendent Anantram Sharma, Area Police Office, Maheshpur Patar Police Inspector Ravinraj Mainali and other police officers reached the victim's house on Wednesday morning.
Anandi's mother Biltoun Saday said that they pressured her to go to the police car and go to the hospital to get the body. 'They asked to walk together in the car and find the dead body,' she said, 'but, there should be a solid commitment of action to those involved.'
However, Siraha police chief Sharma has claimed that this is wrong. 'It is not like that, we have gone to understand about the incident,' he said to Kantipur, 'today it is a bit hot, maybe you will understand by tomorrow.'
Anandi was gang-raped by 22-year-old Sanjeev Kumar Yadav and 32-year-old Shyamsunder Yadav of the village on December 9. However, even though the victim filed a complaint on the same day, instead of taking legal action against them, the police pressured them to settle.
When the police did not hear the victim's family prepared to go to the media, after a month and a half, his complaint was registered on February 25. However, despite the case being registered, the police was reluctant to arrest the accused.
