The security agencies of Parsa have uprooted and destroyed 37 bighas of cannabis cultivation. According to District Police Office Parsa, 133 thousand 477 cannabis plants were uprooted and destroyed during the period up to Chait 25th of the current year.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of Parsa, Kishore Lamsal, said that based on the information about marijuana cultivation by trespassing community forests and partnership forests in the rural areas of Parsa, marijuana plants are being destroyed by uprooting continuously. "We have been uprooting marijuana in collaboration with both the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force," he said.
According to the Parsa Police, there has been an increase in the seizure of marijuana during the three-year period. The police seized 1,123 kilograms of marijuana in 2079/80. Similarly, 467 kilograms of marijuana were seized in 2080/81 and 1,531 kilograms of marijuana in the period up to the end of February 2081/82.
Ganja brought from Makwanpur and other districts of Terai is smuggled to the border Indian market through the rural areas of Parsa.
