A curfew has been imposed in Parsa's Virgunj after stone pelting during the procession of Hanuman Jayanti.
SP Gautam Mishra said that the district administration office has issued a curfew order in the main market area of Birgunj from 6:30 today to 12 noon tomorrow.
Like every year during the Hanuman Jayanti procession going south from Virganj Clock Tower and returning, tension was created near Sriram Hall Chowk in Chhapkaiya-3 when stones were pelted by an unknown group, eyewitnesses said.
After the riot, the police fired two dozen tear gas to control the situation. Police said that two inspectors and some locals were injured in the incident.
