Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh was returning to Janakpur after participating in a program in Birganj on Friday. On his way back, he suddenly arrived at the market of Nijgadh Municipality, a suburb of Bara under the East-West Mahendra Highway. While walking in the market, he started monitoring pharmacies, hospitals and other treatment center clinics. Santosh Thakur, an officer of the Ministry of Health and Population, was with him.
The Chief Minister, while looking at the documents along with the follow-up inquiries with the stakeholders including the pharmacy, found that hospitals, clinics and drug stores (pharmacies) that did not meet the standards were operating illegally. Thakur, an officer of the Ministry of Health and Population, who was with the Chief Minister, said, "The conclusion of the monitoring came - 'From the outside, the operation of the pharmacy and the hospital service from the inside.' "When looking at these four pharmacies from the outside, they were found to have medicine shops and hospital services inside, so they were closed after the instructions of the Chief Minister." According to him, 2 hospitals, 3 dental clinics and 4 drug stores have been closed.
During the monitoring, Jeevandan Hospital in Nijgarh 8 Shahid Chowk and Nijgarh City Hospital in Nijgarh-9 Baaiya Toll were ordered to be closed . "Both hospitals were found to be operating without completing the necessary procedures and licenses," said Thakur, the officer.
Similarly, he said, instructions have been given to close Narayani Dental Service Center at Nijgarh-8 Shahid Chowk, Nijgarh Dental Clinic at Lions Chowk, Kanta Dental Medical at Nijgarh-7.
He said that it was found that patients were admitted and treated by keeping beds in the drug store against the rules.
