A young man died on Tuesday after drowning in the Bagmati River in Balleri, Vrindavan Municipality-1 of Rautahat. Vrindavan- 18-year-old Arjun Praja of Tamang Basti died by drowning, according to the area police office Garuda.
The citizen died after drowning in the frozen water in the trench made by the contractor using a dozer in the excavation contract imposed by the municipality. He drowned in the same pit when he went to take a bath. The police said that the incident is being investigated.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Provincial Hospital Gaur for post-mortem. Locals have been protesting against the construction of pits against the standards in the Bagmati river mining contract imposed by the municipality.
