If he had money with him, Lalit Sada of Surunga Municipality-1 Chaha Goraiya would have been treating his 5-year-old son Vishal Sada at the VP Institute in Dharan. But since there is no money for treatment, he keeps his sick son at home and wanders here and there to collect money.
Her 5-year-old son Vishal has been suffering from flatulence and leg swelling for a long time. After the nearest health officer in the village told him to take him to a big hospital for treatment, he took his son to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajviraj for treatment.
But Vishal could not be treated there either. The hospital referred Vishal to VP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for further treatment. But Lalit has not been able to take his son to the hospital.
Vishal was healthy for a year after birth. However, after a year, the problem of bloating of his stomach gradually appeared. Lalit, who was raising a family of five people on the salary of one person, could not get his son treated at that time. "I could not take care of it in time. Now not only the stomach, but also the legs started swelling," he says.
Last June, he took Lahan to the neighboring district of Sirah to treat his son. Vishal did not get better even after giving medicine as prescribed by the doctor for a few months. In the first week of March, when Vishal became very ill, he ran again as a child. The doctor there also recommended to take him for treatment. But when she had no money, she returned home with her son.
He collected Rs 6,000 by begging everywhere for 9-10 days, and reached Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital last Sunday. After two days of treatment, the doctors referred him to Dharan. ``The 6,000 rupees that you had were spent . With 600 rupees left,' he said, 'there is no way to get there with this much money.'
Lalit, who left his wife at home with a 3-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter, has been staying at his in-laws' house in Shambhunath Municipality-3 Kachandaha for the past one week and has been wandering to collect money for his son's treatment.
Till Sunday, he has not been able to collect the money . "All the treatment received in the village has already been spent, there is no property other than 17 dhur land for living," he said. Prakash Sah said Vishal was referred because there was no PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). "If Vishal's stomach is filled with water, there is also a problem in the liver," Dr. Shah said, "To detect the disease, the water in the stomach should also be tested. Treatment is not possible here, so we have to refer to a hospital with PICU facilities."
Vishal's mother Lalitadevi is also worried about her son's deteriorating health. "I can't sleep all night worrying about my son not getting treatment, the health condition is getting more complicated," she said, "Someone is even giving loans to poor Dalits, I request everyone to save my son."
