An effigy of Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has been burnt in Siraha for protecting those involved in granting citizenship to Indian citizens. In Choharwa on Tuesday evening, the locals burnt the effigy of the home minister.

Locals alleged that political protection was given to Ward President Rushtam Ansari and Ward Secretary Ramdev Mandal, who recommended citizenship to Indian citizen Mostak Mian, and that the police showed no interest in arresting them.

Based on the recommendation of Narha rural municipality-3 ward office, Mian of Deudha, located in Madhubani district, Jayanagar village panchayat of Bharat Vihar, got Nepali citizenship number 150180-4362 from district administration Sirha on 26 June 2080.

After this incident came out, the local Amanat Mian, who was faked as a father to get Mostak's citizenship, was arrested by the police on Chait 5. However, even though the arrest warrant has been issued by the court, the ward president and ward secretary have been roaming freely.
