Due to the compensation dispute, two settlements of Bardibas have been affected by the soil dust dug for the construction of broad gauge rail and platform. As the construction work has stopped for almost two years, the settlements around the railway are forced to eat dust.

Bardibas-4 and 14 families with it have been shocked by the dust flying from the place dug by the railway. 'Now it is more stormy weather. Even if there is a small wind, the house will be washed away," said local Madan Dahal, "I am fighting for compensation. Now, the dust has also started to spread. When the dust flies, it enters the house. Houses are covered with plastic wrap.

"The compensation of the railway station area has been distributed," said Neeraj Adhikari, the coordinator of the Bardibas Railway Struggle Committee, "However, the demarcation of the land has not been done because the railways did not coordinate with the Surveyors Department." Due to the compensation, the local dust is shocked when the railway work is stopped.'

Last Tuesday, in the discussion of the affected farmers with the Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Keshav Kumar Sharma, they were assured that they are ready to correct the error in the compensation.

The secretary of the ministry, Sharma, told the farmers that the compensation to be given to 14 houses in Bardibas will be resolved soon after discussion with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Land Reforms. After receiving the assurance of Secretary Sharma, the farmers of Bardibas suspended the relay hunger strike centered on Kathmandu.
