The state government will build the house of Deepak Mallik, a Dalit community whose house was demolished in the name of Maha Yagya in Aurhi Rural Municipality-5 of Siraha. The Madhesh state government is going to build a house for Deepak through the Madan Bhandari housing program.

The house, which will be built with a budget of 560,000 from the Madhesh state government, will have two rooms with a toilet and a kitchen. Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh informed that he has instructed the concerned agencies to start the construction of houses within a week.

Earlier on Tuesday, Deepak went to Janakpur and met Chief Minister Singh along with Dalit leaders demanding that the housing be arranged. "I had promised to build the house as soon as the victim family came to me," Chief Minister Singh said to Kantipur, "Now the house work will start within a week." Yadav, a member of the state assembly, said that after sitting with the local people's representatives and leaders, they decided to allocate 7 dhur of land and build a house in the place where they have been moved.

He informed that on Friday he will recommend the infrastructure development office, Siraha for the house and after that the technician will come here and proceed with the construction of the house. Similarly, he says, efforts are being made to provide water and electricity to the victim's family.

Yadav said that this support of the state government is purely for the victims and it has nothing to do with the legal proceedings that have been initiated against those involved in the demolition of the victim's house.

On February 10th, in the name of Mahayagya, Deepak's house at the Mahayagya site was demolished by village president Shivji Yadav, former ward president Dilip Yadav and Bajrangi Baba using dozers.

After this incident was publicized through the media, the chairman of the rural municipality and the pre-ward chairman were arrested and are now in police custody. The district police office, Siraha, is investigating them for crimes related to caste discrimination and untouchability.
