Nepal Electricity Authority Harsah-Chandranigahpur 33 KV transmission line conductor upgrade work (old wire replacement) has been interrupted. Locals have stopped the work of laying the wire. Heads of security agencies along with the chief district officer monitored the work stopped area on Wednesday.
After the increase in electricity capacity in the summer months and problems with weak wires, the authority started installing new ones through contracts. In January of the last financial year, Preeti Nirman Seva of Birgunj took the contract to replace the wire at a cost of nearly 1 crore. Dhirendra Yadav, head of the authority's Chandranigahpur branch, informed that the work was stopped after the locals obstructed the work to be completed within 3 months.
"Locals in Chandrapur did not allow work to be done for two months because new wires were being replaced from Harsah," he said, "The local administration has monitored it." Now it is said to proceed with the work . The work will start soon . The authority plans to replace the old wire of 13 km from Harsah to Chandranigahpur and lay soil.
In the summer season, the authority said that they are going to install new wires after the old wires cannot withstand the capacity and the possibility of falling accidents increases. But the residents of Chandranigahpur did not allow the wire to be changed because the 33 KV line was taken from their house. This line was taken from Chandranigahpur to Harsah 25 years ago. At that time no one interrupted .
Now the authority said that it was interrupted when the old wire was removed and the new one was installed. District Police Chief SP Dilip Ghimire said that whoever comes to obstruct the work of electricity will be caught and action will be taken.
