Suvarnapur Homestay, which was affected by Covid, is back to normal

Homestays in Suvarnapur, which slowed down during the Corona period, have returned to their old rhythm. The first homestay of Madhesh province, Sunakhari intermediate homestay, has not had many guests this year. Currently, the homestay operators are excited as 125 to 150 guests are coming every month.

According to Shambhuram Poudel, president of Sunakhari Intermediate Homestay Committee  Currently, most of the guests coming to the homestay are from Birganj, Hetaunda, Kalaiya, Narayanghat, Pokhara, Janakpur, Kathmandu. Most of them come to visit Parsa and Chitwan national park, to study and research about forest and wildlife.

In January and February, the filming unit of the movie "Elephant in Fog" stayed in this homestay for about one and a half months. At that time all the homestays were full . About 16 lakh rupees were received from a single film unit in the homestay.

There are 15 houses and 30 rooms in this homestay located in Thori rural municipality-5. There are 60 beds for guests in those rooms. 4 of the 15 homestays were built with the support of Parsa National Nikunj and Taal Program and the remaining 11 with the support of Madhesh Province Government. In the construction of the new building of each homestay built at a cost of around 8 lakh rupees, 4.4 lakhs of donors and 4 lakhs of operators have been invested.

Homestay was started 9 years ago from 10 houses . From time to time, a team of guests from third countries come to the homestay.

In the past, the locals who have been operating homestays by setting aside one or two rooms for guests have built a new building for the homestay. President Poudel says that now, the homestay has the facility of staying in a separate room with attached toilet like a hotel and resort. He said that other structures of the homestay are also being upgraded. "There are incidents of wild animals entering the human settlements near the park at night and sometimes attacking them," he said. Suvarnapur Homestay, which was affected by Covid, is back to normal

Bhim Bahadur Pakhrin, another homestay owner, said that they have followed it because the guests feel satisfied and safe when they provide the same facilities as the hotel in the homestay in Madi in the neighboring district of Chitwan and the homestay in Amaltari in Nawalparasi. He said that if the guests can live in a safe and comfortable environment, their homestay stay will be prolonged and there is a possibility that they will come again.

Guests come not only to celebrate holidays but also to understand the Tamang culture and lifestyle closely, to research wildlife and plants and to prepare research papers .

The guests are warmly welcomed with tikas and garlands, treated like family members and are also given an emotional farewell.

Guests have been shown Tamang songs, dances and culture for 4 years. With the financial support of the Tara Village Development Committee and Lake Program under Chitwan National Park, the Homestay Committee has built cultural houses in 2 districts and put them into operation.

Homestay committee has been provided a jeep by Madhesh state government for jungle safari . Two elephants have also been provided at Gaduwaline Post in Parsa National Park for elephant safari.
