Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have emphasized the inevitability of mechanization in agricultural work in the country. They said this during a one-day observation and evaluation visit of winter crop technology organized by Agricultural Tools Research Center Ranighat Birganj on Monday.
The farmers of Feta Rural Municipality-1 Triveni of Bara had on Monday demonstrated the technique of bringing in the potato crop planted by the potato planter with the potato drier machine.
At that time, Paras Thakur, the leading farmer, said that he has been planting and digging potatoes using this technology for 3 years. During this process, he informed that he has already purchased a potato planter machine with the partial grant of the office of the rural municipality. He also said that he managed to earn 250,000 rupees in 15 days by planting potatoes in different places of Parsa and Bara with this machine during the potato planting season this year.
Yuvraj Thapa, a farmer of Parsagadhi Municipality-3 in Parsa, said that he and his neighboring farmers have been planting wheat crops using zero tillage technology for the past 3 years. He said that the cost of cultivating wheat with this technology is low and the production is one and a half times higher.
Abhay Yadav, the leading farmer of Parsa Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality-3, said that he has been cultivating wheat using the surface mulcher seeder technique for the last 3 years. He said that due to this technology, the cost of farming is low and the production is also high, other farmers in the village are also learning this technology.
Dr. BP Yadav, Head of Agricultural Research Directorate, Madhesh Provincial Office, Parwanipur, said that there is no alternative to mechanization in agriculture as there will be more shortage of agricultural workers in the future.
Saroj Adhikari, Chief Engineer of Agricultural Mechanization Technology Center, Naktaziz, emphasized on mechanization and said that they are engaged in the development of new technology . He also claimed that it is necessary to make the farmers accustomed to it.
Sachin Kumar Mishra, chief engineer of Ranighat Virganj Agricultural Tools Research Center, said that the center has been emphasizing on developing and upgrading new technologies for the last few years and bringing them to the farmers. "In the coming days, the problem of climate change and the shortage of agricultural workers will appear even worse," he said, "In such a situation, mechanization is not an option in agriculture."
