Vishal Shah Kanu, head of the examination branch of the education development and coordination unit there, has been accused of trying to determine the examination center of SEE in Siraha.
This allegation has been made after the audio recording of a conversation between a private school headmaster and the head of the examination department, Kanu, was made public in order to center the SEE, which is scheduled to start from the 7th of Chait 7th, in a place chosen by financial influence in the district.
Kantipur has found an audio record confirming that the examination center was conducted at the said place after making financial transactions. The audio record is of a phone conversation between the headmaster of a private school and Kanu, head of the examination branch of Education Development and Coordination Unit, Siraha .
in which the principal asks Kanu to arrange the center where he said . However, Kanu, who did not recognize him at first, asked him to come to the office and talk. Then, when the principal said the name of the school, he replied that he had spoken to the accountant of the said school .
Kanu says to the principal, 'We have talked to your accountant, rest assured, we will move the center to the place you said.' Then, instead of disclosing the amount to be paid, Kanu said, 'Where can we do everything on the phone, let's come to the office, let's talk here.' The headmaster of the school claimed that he had paid Rs 40,000 to Kanu. However, he says that he did not set up the examination center at the said place because he suspected that this matter might be made public about him.
'Kanu sir took the money saying he would move the center to the place he said, but they did not give it because they thought I would leak this matter,' said the headmaster, 'now they are not contacting me to ask for the money back, so that the exam can be completed first, if the money is not paid, I will hold a press conference.' He said that when the money was handed over to the employees of the education unit, they were transferred to the specified place and those who did not pay were assigned a center far away.
'An example of this is my school, the center has been moved 10/12 km away because we don't give money,' he said on the condition of not mentioning the name because it would affect the students. On the other hand, in the name of examination, it has been found that the school has also extorted from the students at the rate of 500 to 1000 .
"We have paid 700 rupees, some of our friends from other schools have paid 500, 700, even 1000," said a student participating in SEE, "We have been told not to say this anywhere, but this is wrong!" Kanu, who was in his office on Friday, asked him not to ask anything about the case.
Exam center selection is done by the District Examination Coordinating Committee. This committee, chaired by the chief district officer, consists of five members, namely the head of the education unit, the district police chief, the district chief of armed forces, and the district chief of the National Investigation Department. However, the Chief District Officer of Siraha, Vasudev Dahal, said that he was not aware of the transaction regarding the determination of the examination center. He claims that the examination center has been decided so that all the students can get it.
Head of Education Development and Coordination Unit, Siraha, Deepakraj Kalouni has claimed that the transaction is not true. "The transaction is wrong," he said.
10,703 students from 188 schools including 95 public and 93 private schools are participating in this year's SEE. 49 examination centers have been established for this. There were 43 examination centers in the district last year.
