Protests and demonstrations have been going on in Gaur for the past three days due to the land dispute of Gaur Rice and Flour Mill located in Gaur Municipality-3. On Friday morning, the locals staged a demonstration by burning tires on the road.

There has been a conflict between Mildhani (shareholder) and Gaurvasi over land for 48 years . The so-called mill owners are trying to sell the mill land. Locals have been agitating in favor of not giving it under any circumstances . This issue has also been discussed in the House. After the news came out that the municipality had agreed to pass some land in their name and give the rest to the rich, the locals of Gaur became agitated.

The dispute came to the surface after Mayor Shambhu Sah informed through a press conference that out of the 5 bigha land in the name of the mill, after negotiating with the board of directors of the mill, it was agreed to give 55 kathas in the name of Gaur Municipality for free. Nagarpramukh Sah claimed that the free land will be transferred to the name of the municipality for the benefit of the residents. "We are asking to give crores of rupees as compensation to the landlord," he said, "Now, instead of giving it for free, they cheated." He slandered that he wanted to sell the land.'

Angerulus has started in Gaur from Wednesday on this issue . Locals have submitted a memorandum to the chief district officer and the municipality. The Mill Bachau Sangharsh Committee has launched a protest program saying that the mill will not allow the sale of even a single piece of land.

Madhesh state MP Nagendra Sah said that the state government will provide the required amount for the acquisition of the mill and he will take initiative for that. After the decision to pass 55 kathas in the name of the municipality and release the remaining land, the locals are angry.

The Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, issued a statement and said that serious attention has been drawn to the fact that the land of the mill, which is the heritage of the people of Rautahat, is about to be sold. The social media has heated up saying that the rice mill land is going to be sold. There have been digs against Nagar Pramukh Saha through social media.

The mill was established in the year 2003 with the joint investment of India's Bajaj Group and Nepali. The mill was in operation for 30 years . Due to various reasons, the mill was closed in the year 2033 . There are more than 100 Nepalese and Indian citizen shareholders of the land including the mill.

Local Om Prakash Madheshia has alleged that most of them have died and the Indians are still missing and they are going to sell them with fake documents. The mill has been closed for 48 years and is lying idle. Some items of the mill have been sold in junk. Established in the year 2003 under the name of Gaur Rice and Flour Mill, the mill covers an area of 5 bigha 19 kattha 15 dhur. Recently, the locals have been organizing sports, various entertainment programs, fairs, festivals, grand yajna and parties have been holding general meetings here. 27 Maoists were killed in a clash between the then Madhesi Janadhikari Forum and the Maoists in this field on 7th Chait 2063.

Indian investor Darbhanga businessman Vijayprasad Bajaj, Arbind Bajaj and Gopal Prasad Bajaj signed the contract and decided to sell the mill land, said local Bikrant Gupta.

There has been a dispute between the locals and the so-called landowners for 48 years about the plot number 139, 140, 163 and 803 of 4 bighas 15 dhur, 16 kattha, 4 bigha 10 kattha, 9 kattha and 5 bigha 19 kattha 15 dhur respectively. Locals have been putting forward the demand that the land should be acquired. The so-called land owners have been taking the stand to sell at any cost.

The compensation assessment committee formed under the coordination of the Chief District Officer had fixed the compensation amount of 13 crore 53 lakh 82 thousand 6 hundred  97 rupees on 24th Baisakh 24, 2072. For that purpose, Gaur Municipality had requested a budget from the state government. The state government had allocated 150 million during the policy and program for the acquisition. Due to the delay in the process, the amount was 'frozen'. The acquisition process has not progressed yet. The Land Acquisition Act 2034 has given the right to acquire land to the government.  Prakash Shankar Shrestha, Arbind Bajaj and others who are the main shareholders of

mill have sold the land to Syndicate Housing Developers Pvt Ltd in Viranj on 17th June 2066 for 45 million, the locals have been protesting continuously.

Locals filed a complaint to the then Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and the Public Accounts Committee in 2066 saying that the land of the mill was about to be sold. After the complaint, the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Office immediately stopped and instructed the Ministry of Land Reforms and Administration to investigate. At that time it was decided to acquire the land . The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission had also seized the land for investigation. Gaur municipality has acquired the land and said that it will be constructed as a stadium.
