Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that there is a need to build a dry port at Bhitthamod in Mahottari. He said this in a discussion held by the Jaleshwar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bhithamod on Thursday after inspecting the construction site of the proposed dry port to be built near the Indian border.

President Dahal says that one of the objectives of the Maoist, Terai Madhes Jagran Abhiyan with the people of Maoists is to understand the situation of the people of the border region and to advance the work of development. 

Jaleshwar Chamber of Commerce and Industry submitted a memorandum to President Dahal regarding the construction of dry port. Informing that it is only 225 km one-way from Jaleshwar customs to import and export third country goods from Kolkata port, President of the association Shivchandra Choudhary said that this port is in a convenient location for all the districts of Madhes.
