Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has said that since the Constitution of Nepal has established basic healthcare as a fundamental right of citizens, everyone should have access to it.
Addressing the golden jubilee ceremony of Ram Kumar Mahaveer Prasad Kedia Eye Hospital Birganj on Monday, Vice President Yadav praised the hospital for providing high quality eye treatment services since its inception. Remembering the contribution of Sundermal Kedia and his family, one of the founding members of
hospital, he said that the hospital has taken a big leap in the field of eye treatment.
Hospital Management Committee Chairman Rajesh Kumar Kedia informed that this hospital, which was started with 5 beds in Loharpatti, Birganj on February 12, 2031, has become operational in its own building in the year 2042 and has become 175 beds. He said that the hospital has served more than 2.7 lakh patients and performed 4 lakh eye surgeries during 50 years. At the
event, Hiralal Kedia Jyotirgamay Award of Rs 251,111 was awarded to ophthalmologist Dr. Sonu Dulal. Dulal is the first person to receive this award established in the memory of former president of the hospital Hiralal Kedia.
Vice President Yadav presented the award to Dulal. Vice President Yadav also released a souvenir of the hospital and handed over wheelchairs and white canes to the disabled and blind.
