One person has died due to beating at the newborn rehabilitation center in Kalaiya. Superintendent of Police Santosh Tamang said that 37-year-old Dhirendra Pradip Prasad Mandal of Kalaiya-9 in the center died of beating on Thursday midnight. Mandal was admitted to the center 15 days ago.
The CCTV footage of the beating has gone viral. There is a scene where Mandal was beaten up.
The body has been examined at Kalaiya Provincial Hospital and handed over to the family. He said that the consultant along with the director of the center were beaten up on the pretext of breach of discipline.
The owner of the rehabilitation center is Sahebabu Mansoor of Kalaiya-3. His brother, 29-year-old Tamanna Ali, has been supervising the center. He is the Chairman of Union Region No. 3.
Police Superintendent Tamang said seven people were arrested including him. The arrested are 19-year-old Sarfraz Mansuri of Kalaiya-3, 22-year-old Nij Sarrara of Ward 4, 20-year-old Mohammad Anja Mian of Ward 6, 24-year-old Arun Sarraf of Ward 1, 19-year-old Sagar Gupta There is a 21-year-old Parameshwar Sah of Ward 2.
