The teachers and staff of the old Saraswati Secondary School in Janakpur have suspended classes from Thursday as they have not received their salaries and allowances for 5 months.
25 teachers-employees of Saraswati Mavi have stopped all the school activities after 12 noon on Thursday saying that they are suffering financially, physically and mentally due to non-payment of salaries and allowances for 5 months without showing any valid reason.
In a public appeal issued by the teachers and staff of the school, it has been stated that Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan Corporation should take responsibility for the postponement of classes even if it causes inconvenience to the students and related classes.
Saraswati Mavi's teachers-employees are due their salaries and allowances since November. The teachers-employees who have postponed the classes have now demanded to get a lump sum of two quarters from October to March. Rajkumar KC, chief administrative officer of Janakpur sub-metropolitan city, said that since there was no head of accounts in the sub-metropolitan city for a long time, there was a delay in the withdrawal of salaries and allowances.
Two months ago, the head of accounting retired. Since then, the sub-metropolitan municipality was without an accounting chief,'' Chief Administrative Officer KC said, "An accounting chief who also works in other offices has now come and is looking at the work. By next week, the salaries and allowances of all the teachers and employees will be paid.'
