There are signs of improvement in the revenue collection of Birganj Customs Office. In the month of January, customs collected 85 percent of the target revenue. In this month, the target of revenue collection is 17 billion 50 million rupees, but 14 billion 52 million rupees have been collected. Which is 85.20 percent of the target.

In the current fiscal year, the target of revenue collection from this customs office is 2 trillion 18 billion 95 crore rupees. 94 billion 59 billion rupees have been collected out of the target of 1 trillion 21 billion 81 billion rupees.

This customs has not been able to meet the target of revenue collection for the last 2 financial years due to the decline in import and export trade due to the economic recession that started after the corona period.

Amit Tiwari, Information Officer of Birgunj Customs Office, said that there has been some improvement in the import and export trade in the current financial year and it has also seen a positive effect on revenue collection. He said that among the major imported items that contribute to the revenue are jeeps, cars, vans, bus truck chassis, LP gas, gas lighters, aviation fuel, etc.
