The residents of Mirchaiya, who have been suffering due to the non-construction of the East-West Highway in Mirchaiya, have started a protest again. The local residents of this place have been protesting again since Wednesday by blocking the highway.

Locals held a vigil at Katari Chowk in Mirchaiya from 9:30 am to 10:30 am this morning. They have said that they will continue their protest until the construction of the highway continues.

They have protested several times before for the construction of the highway. However, after the protest intensified, the local Ashok Kumar Sah said that the government side did not pay attention to negotiating and agreeing and the implementation of the same, but the highway could not be built even after repeated protests.

Sah complains that because the highway has not been built for a long time, the businesses here have been destroyed and the local people are suffering from various diseases due to the smog. "Even though we had protested many times in the past, we were only cheated," Shah said, "This year's protest is warpar."

The construction work of 86.82 km Charlane Highway from Kamala in Siraha to Kanchanpur in Saptari has been going on since 2077. China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group got the construction contract on October 13, 2077 for 15.66 billion rupees.

According to the agreement with the government, the construction should be completed by November 11, 2080. However, the government extended the deadline until January 10, 2081 after the work was not completed on time.

Even though this period has ended, the government has again extended the deadline for this construction company, which has completed only 55 percent, until 16 January 2082. However, Mirchaiya has been the most affected on this road section since the construction company, which is working on the construction at a very slow pace, dug up everywhere 3 years ago to build the highway.
