The police are yet to identify the culprit of the arson incident in the cut and stored paddy field. On December 6, a group of unknown people attacked the three-and-a-half-bigha field of Harendra Yadav, a resident of Jagarnathpur, Birganj Metropolitan City-22, when the rice was cut and piled up. Even on the 25th day after the arson, the Parsa police have not been able to solve the incident.
Suspicious of 5 persons, the victim farmer lodged a complaint at District Police Office Parsa for investigation. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kishore Lamsal, it is not certain that this is the exact person. "Investigation is still ongoing," Parsa police spokesperson Lamsal said, "The victim has filed a complaint for investigation as he is suspicious of some people. Their involvement is being investigated.'
According to Harendra, about 210 quintals of paddy have been set on fire by sprinkling diesel or petrol. He said that paddy worth about 7.5 lakh rupees was destroyed in the fire. He alleged that even after three weeks, the culprit was not arrested due to weak investigation by the police. "It was known that there was a fire in the paddy field after the locals reported it at 12:30 p.m.," he said, "We reached the field and informed the police." The fire was extinguished with the help of three fire engines around 3 o'clock in the morning.'
He has alleged that paddy fields were set on fire to seek political revenge. On January 6, an orientation program was held in the presence of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal President Upendra Yadav. Harendra provided his land for the orientation program of the party. He claims that the workers of Jaspa party, which was formed separately from Jaspa Nepal, threatened not to provide land for the program.
