A dozer (JCB) and a tipper have been seized while illegally mining in Sirahama river. Bihan dozer and 1/1 tipper were seized from Gagan River located in Golbazar municipality-1 on Tuesday.
The seized dozer bearing number 3-01-003 a 6927 and province number 2-03-001 a 1948 have been kept in the subdivision forest office at Choharwa. Avid Hussain, Chief of Sub Division Forest Office, Choharwa, responded that this matter needs to be understood from the district.
However, Shailendra Kumar Mishra, head of Division Forest Office, Lahan, expressed ignorance on this matter. He said that he did not know about this matter.
According to an employee of Division Forest Office, Lahan, a team of Lahan went to the river on the basis of special information at around 3 am on Tuesday. However, as it was impossible for the said team alone to control the vehicle, another team from Choharwa also went to the river.
"When they tried to take control of the vehicle, the people who were doing excavation there tried to fight with the patrolling staff," an employee told Kantipur, "Then after another team went from Choharwa, the vehicle was taken under control."
