In the preliminary investigation of the police, it has been found that 46-year-old Deputy Inspector of Armed Police, Lakshman Yadav, who died in a collision with a vehicle in Bariyarpatti rural municipality-1 Chotki Kachnari of Siraha on the morning of November 16, was killed by smugglers.
While trying to stop the gang involved in liquor smuggling, the police said that Sai Yadav, who was armed with a vehicle, was hit by the traffickers and escaped. According to Chief Superintendent of Police Ramesh Pandit of District Police Office, Siraha, five people including Indian and Nepali are involved in the incident and their search is on.
Sai Yadav, who is working at Armed Police Base Camp Badhari, was on patrol based on information that a jeep was going to India from Nepal with alcohol. According to the police, 8 policemen of Armed Police and Nepal Police were on duty with him at different places at that time.
At 3 o'clock in the morning Sai Yadav was patrolling and when he tried to stop the jeep that came to the place, it hit and fled towards India . The police said that although the other policemen were only at a distance of about 100 meters from the scene, they could not react because the vehicle ran away at a high speed. After the incident, he was taken to a provincial hospital in Lahan for treatment, but the doctor declared him dead.
Manoj Yadav, former ward president of Siraha's Navrajpur Rural Municipality-5, is currently under police custody in this incident. The police claimed that others involved in the incident have been identified. According to the police, along with Nepalis, Indian citizens are also involved. Chief Superintendent of Police Ramesh Pandit of District Police Office, Siraha said that they are all in India. According to him, SP Pandit said that after receiving a complaint from the family, the police has proceeded with the investigation into vehicular homicide and organized crime.
'There is a problem to take control from outside the country . Coordination is ongoing with the Indian side to bring them to Nepal,' he said, 'The car used in the incident is a Tata company Safari with an Indian number plate.' So far, it has been seen in the investigation that they went ahead while hitting the police.
With the murder of Sai Yadav, his wife and two daughters are in mourning. Mrs. Sangeetadevi Yadav has not been able to control herself since she got the news that her husband was killed while on duty. Her two daughters are still grieving like their mother. The elder daughter Sushmita, 17 years old, and the younger daughter Sujata, 15 years old, who returned to the village after hearing the news of their father's death, study in Kathmandu. Sushmita is studying in science faculty in class 12 and Sujata is studying in commerce faculty in class 11 .
