In Bariyarpur village of Mahagadhimai municipality in Bara district, the famous Gadhimai Mela, famous for animal and bird sacrifice, which takes place every five years in November, has increased.

The common people of this region celebrate this fair as a festival. The temple has started to fill up. The crowd has increased in the streets and fairs.

As the fame of Gadhimai is getting wider as visitors from all over the country who have faith in Shaktipeeth Gadhimai come to fill the fair, most of the schools in the district have been closed for five days from Friday at the request of the main management committee of the fair. Likewise, the Madhes state government has given a holiday across the state on Balika day. Rajkishore Sahni, the president of the teachers' union, said that the teaching of the school has been stopped so that it will be easy for the visitors to stay in the nearby schools. 

The houses of the surrounding villages and towns where the fair is held are full of guests. Those who come to fill the fair in public places have started to arrange accommodation . The main attraction of the fair is animal sacrifice. The mela has been systematically prepared with electricity, hundreds of CCTV cameras, toilets, parking, drinking water, mobile ATMs, Wi-Fi around the temple, parking at all corners of the mela, traffic management, free health check-up camps, ambulances, guns and food for the convenience of the visitors. Spokesperson of the original committee Vijay Swarnakar said. 

Similarly, abattoir management, helipad and security arrangements have been made for Ranga sacrifice. "All the necessary preparations have been completed to make the fair grand and civilized," said Swarnakar, "the devotees who fulfill their vows have voluntarily offered some animal sacrifices and flower offerings." Lakhs of pilgrims come to Gadhimai Mela from all over the country and from India's Punjab, Haryana, Vihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Delhi, West Bengal. 

 He said that the committee has given a license to kill 250 animals in a slaughterhouse spread over an area of ​​2 bighas for Ranga sacrifice. He said that journalists or anyone else will be allowed to take photos of the slaughterhouse. The wall of the abattoir is built 12 feet high . Last year around 10,000 roosters were sacrificed and countless goats, ducks and pigeons were sacrificed. 

Umesh Paswan of Bharat Vihar Bairgania said that the Indian Border Security Force is obstructing the bringing of vows to the border. The local administration and the fair committee have banned flying unmanned drone cameras, taking pictures of the slaughterhouse, and displaying sharp weapons to the killers at the famous fair for animal sacrifice. "It has been stopped from the point of view of security so that there is no impact on the fair," said Vasant Adhikari, the chief district officer who is also the coordinator of the district security committee Traffic police have also been mobilized in the vicinity.

 Around 2,500 security personnel with plain clothes have been mobilized in the fair. In the past, there have been cases of open alcohol consumption and death of pilgrims due to cold, pickpocketing and sexual violence in the fair. "We are sensitive to the safety of pilgrims, security preparations have been made to meet the security challenges," District Police Office Chief SP Mahendra Khadka said.

 He said that security preparations have been made to control the uncomfortable situation that may arise from anti-animal sacrifice groups and organizations. He said that border security has also been taken care of.

Paketmar Arrested

While the District Security Committee is claiming that security has been tightly managed, the police have arrested around 1,000 Paketmars from last week to Friday. According to DSP Prakash Sapkota of Nepal Police who is commanding the fair, 50 to 100 pickpockets are being arrested daily. They are being detained and investigated from different places. According to the police, those who pickpocket, pickpocket and steal in other ways have been arrested.
