Matkor ceremony was completed on Thursday as part of the week-long wedding Panchami festival in Janakpurdham.

Matkor ceremony is celebrated on Thursday, the fifth day of the marriage Panchami festival. Matkor Vidhi of the marriage festival is celebrated in Gangasagar in Janakpurdham, commemorating the marriage of Ramasita in the Treta Yuga.

In the presence of saints and devotees, Mahant Ramroshan Das Vaishnav, the successor of Janaki Temple, fulfilled the role of Sita's father according to the legitimate tradition. There is a tradition of making matkor method one day before the wedding. 

In the Maithili tradition, before the wedding, it was customary to take prasad by participating in the method of digging mud on the banks of the reservoir. The ghat of Gangasagar was filled with common people in Matkor, which is celebrated by singing folk songs.

The first day of the week-long wedding festival, which started from Sunday, will be Nagar Darshan, second day Phulbari Leela, second day Dhanushayajna, fourth day Tilkotsav, fifth day Matkor and sixth day auspicious marriage on Friday, said Mahant Vaishnav, heir of Janaki Temple. On the seventh day of the marriage festival, it is customary to bid farewell to the saint by celebrating Ramakaleva (feasting the wedding participants).
