Nerha (black pox) infection has appeared during paddy harvesting. Compared to the last three years, the paddy has grown better this year, but the farmers are worried about disease during threshing.
Manish Kumar Pal, head of Krishi Gyan Kendra Mahottari, said that when rice gets diseased, farmers are quick to cut rice.
'Compared to the previous three years, this year has produced enough rice, but the disease has affected it,' Chief Pal said. We have asked the farmers to cut the rice early because of the disease.'
According to him, rice production in Mahottari has increased this year to more than two quintals per quintal. Sona Mansuli, Katrani, Basmati, Bahuguni, Ramvilas, Savitri, Hardinath and other types of rice are being produced here. From the point of view of production and taste, most of them have been cultivating Sonamansuli rice.
The soon-to-be Ramvilas breed is also the choice of farmers. Basmati is preferred by everyone and even though the demand is high, the production is low, so the farmers produce Basmati rice only for household expenses and festivals, said Pal, the head of Gyan Kendra.
It has been found during monitoring that Tulsifool variety of paddy, which is about to become extinct, is being cultivated in Mahottari. Pal said that it was found that Raithane variety Tulsiful was cultivated in Pipra rural municipality-6, Ratanpur tol.
When a guest comes to the house, when the wedding feast is served, Tulsi flower rice is used more in Khir as well as Puja. Knowledge center chief Pal said that its production is less (60 kg per bushel) than other types of sardar production (130 kg per bushel). .
