The bodies of two women buried in a landslide at Dawang Lek in Sunchhahari Rural Municipality–1, Seram, Rolpa, have been found, while one person has been injured.
On Saturday afternoon, local residents 51-year-old Asauji Gharti Magar and 36-year-old Amara Gharti Magar, who were grazing cattle and goats, were buried by a sudden landslide. With the help of locals and police, the bodies of both women were recovered from the site in the evening. District Police Office Chief DSP Panchakumar Bakhu said that 60-year-old Kule Gharti Magar was injured in the incident. He has been sent to the Seram Health Post for treatment.
Four goats and two cows were also buried in the landslide, but those animals have also been rescued. Police stated that the search and rescue operation for additional livestock is ongoing.
The incident site is located about 25 kilometers east of the Area Police Office Sunchhahari’s headquarters in Powang. Police said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
