The number of Nepali, foreign and SAARC tourists visiting Bardiya National Park has decreased in the last fiscal year. It has decreased compared to 081/082.
In 081/082, 28,068 domestic and foreign tourists visited the park, while in 082/083, 27,025 tourists entered. In 082/083, 6,901 foreigners, 1,217 from SAARC and 18,907 Nepalis visited the park. The park has stated that 32.6 million rupees were collected from tourist entry fees in the last fiscal year.
'The Gen-G movement on Bhadra 23 and 24 has affected tourist movement,' said Mahesh Neupane, information officer of the park, 'The ongoing war in West Asia has affected foreign tourists.' In the last fiscal year, the highest number of tourists came in Kartik. The park has reported that 4,851 tourists visited during that period and 4,739 in Chaitra. In the month of Ashar last fiscal year, 294 tourists visited
Tourists also come to Bardiya Park because they get the opportunity to see tigers. Apart from this, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes are found here. Tourism entrepreneur Ramji Thapa says that tourists come to see Babai Valley, Karnali Chisapani Bridge, Crocodile Breeding Center, elephants, and for rafting, fishing, jeep safaris, and jungle walks. Even though jungle safaris have been closed in other parks due to the rains, Bardiya Park is open. Park chief Ashok Ram said that jeep safaris have not been closed as the rains have not blocked the roads so far.
The main entrance to the park is Thakurdwara. Apart from this, even though Rammapur is the second entrance, 99 percent of tourists enter the park through Thakurdwara.
According to the latest census, there are 125 tigers in Bardiya National Park. It is estimated that there are 120 elephants in Bardiya National Park. Similarly, there are 38 rhinos.
There are more than 30 small and large hotels and 20 homestays outside the park. Apart from the park, tourists visit places such as Dalla, Pattharbojhi, and others on the Khata Biological Trail.
