One person has died in Rolpa after being buried in a landslide following incessant rains.
Police have said that 57-year-old Deuprasad Gharti of Sallabot in Parivartan Rural Municipality-4, Pachhawang, in the northwest, was buried in a landslide. Police said that Gharti was buried in a landslide while he was walking on Saturday morning.
According to Panch Kumar Bakhu, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Rolpa, the news of the person being buried in a landslide caused by incessant rain since Friday night reached the Area Police Office, Pachhawang at 5:30 am on Friday morning. Immediately after that, a four-member team under the command of Deputy Inspector of Police Narsingh Khatri was deployed to the incident site.
The police team managed to reach the incident site at 7:20 am. The incident site is about five kilometers north of the Area Police Office, Pachhawang and about 60 kilometers west of the district headquarters, Libang.
After identifying the body, the police have helped the victim's family to conduct a post-mortem, while further investigation into the incident is underway, according to the police.
